Chat in an autowebinar consists of messages synced to the recording's timeline (a simulated chat). It boosts engagement - it's not a live chat like in Zoom.
How to set it up
- Creator -> Video -> Chat.
- Add messages that appear at specific times in the recording.
- Optional: import from CSV, chat blocks during selected time ranges, messages from participants, email notifications about new messages (you can set the recording time from which emails start arriving).
Questions
An optional questions section — a participant can ask a question and you get an email notification. Chat and question emails always include three actions: Reply in chat (join the room), Reply by email (Reply / mailto to the participant), and Chat messages (panel). The email also shows when the webinar ends.
Moderator
You can reply to chat messages as a moderator. For automatic private replies, see AI Moderator.
Messages outside the webinar
You can also see the list in the Chat messages menu. Set a date range (plus webinar, status, source: chat / questions / both, and type: participants / moderators / all) and download matching rows as CSV or TXT. You reply to questions by email to the participant. Moderator messages are labeled — you can add them to a webinar as predefined messages (Admin role) to reuse them in future recordings.
Transparency and CSV format
Simulated messages are prepared in advance and played according to the recording timeline — they are not posts from other people watching at that moment. Tell your audience, in line with your communication standards and applicable law, that the event is an automated webinar.
The importer accepts a .csv file with at least six columns: hour, minute, second, name, role, message. An optional isOffer column marks an offer message. Minutes and seconds must be between 0 and 59; name and message cannot be empty. The importer code does not define a separate maximum row or message count.
You can download the current simulation from the creator as a CSV file in the same format (including the isOffer column) and import it into another webinar.
